What’s a song that’s been 25 years in the making sound like? Apparently it sounds just like this brand new offering from Guided By Voices, Class Clown Spots a UFO.
As lore has it, the new song – which can be downloaded exclusively via RollingStone.com – was written in the mid-80s with the title Crocker’s Favorite Song and intended for the band’s 1994 album, Bee Thousand. After being cut, it resurfaced in their King Shit And The Golden Boys boxset, then on the reissued Bee Thousand (2004), and then finally on Suitcase 3 (2009) re-titled, Class Clown Spots A UFO.
Now in present day, re-recorded and newly polished, GBV have named their forthcoming new album in this song’s honor, and release it as a teaser to their June 12th LP release.
